Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey just dropped its first trailer — and it’s huge. Matt Damon leads an all-star cast as Nolan takes on myth, ... See more

The first trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has officially dropped, offering a sweeping look at his gritty, large-scale take on ancient myth.

Led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, the film appears to blend epic warfare, historical drama, and Nolan's signature realism as it revisits the fall of Troy through the legendary Trojan Horse siege.

Making cinematic history as the first major Hollywood feature shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, the six-minute prologue debuted exclusively at 70mm IMAX screenings before expanding to broader theatrical releases.

The footage showcases Nolan's most expansive vision yet, featuring Tom Holland as Telemachus and Jon Bernthal as Menelaus in a tense dialogue-driven sequence that frames the central mystery: where is Odysseus?

The epic ensemble includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and more.

Set to premiere July 17, 2026, the film promises to transform Homer's ancient Greek epic into a visual spectacle worthy of Nolan's track record.

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II, marking a high-profile shift from her decade-long tenure as Marvel's Black Widow into Matt Reeves' DC universe.

While details about her role remain under wraps, the potential casting adds significant star power to Robert Pattinson's grounded take on Gotham.

The move comes as Johansson expands her franchise portfolio, having recently starred in Jurassic World: Rebirth (which grossed over $868 million worldwide) and signing on for Mike Flanagan's upcoming Exorcist reboot.

Production on The Batman Part II is set to begin in spring 2025 for an October 1, 2027 theatrical release, with Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman notably not expected to return for the sequel.

At New York City's Museum of the City of New York's fourth annual "Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off," a towering 24-pound, nearly three-foot-tall gingerbread Statue of Liberty captured the "Best Borough Spirit: Manhattan" award.

Created by Amazing Race Season 36 champions César Aldrete and Ricky Rotandi, the piece took three weeks to complete and showcased innovative techniques including pulverized gingerbread sculpted into a Play-Doh-like consistency for intricate detailing.

The duo started with a research trip to the actual Statue of Liberty, then built a cardboard prototype before baking 20 pounds of cookie dough and constructing the piece around a Rice Krispies Treats core.

The base features approximately 50 hand-piped diverse gingerbread figures, each unique, allowing visitors to see themselves represented in the crowd.

The exhibition, running through January 19, 2026, features 20 fully edible structures celebrating iconic New York landmarks.

Tiny Spider Molts Inside a Woman’s Ear

A 64-year-old woman in Taiwan endured four sleepless nights hearing incessant beating, clicking, and rustling sounds in her left ear before doctors discovered the source: a 2-3 millimeter spider that had crawled into her ear canal and molted inside.

The case, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, marked the first documented instance of an insect molting within a human ear canal.

Dr. Tengchin Wang, director of otolaryngology at Tainan Municipal Hospital, noted he'd previously seen ants, moths, cockroaches, and mosquitoes in patients' ears, but never a molting arachnid.

The spider, identified as Hasarius adansoni (common in Taiwan), likely sought the dark environment for its vulnerable molting process.

Doctors successfully removed both the live spider and its ghostly white exoskeleton using suction through an otoscope, immediately resolving the woman's symptoms.

An AI Necklace That Talks Back — and Sparks Debate

Friend AI, a $129 wearable pendant designed by 22-year-old Harvard dropout Avi Schiffmann, is dividing opinions online as it positions itself as a digital companion fighting loneliness.

The always-listening device features a microphone that connects to Google Gemini AI, sending text-based responses to users' phones based on overheard conversations and life context.

However, early reviews from outlets like WIRED and Fortune revealed significant issues: lag times of 7-10 seconds, frequent disconnections, condescending AI responses that called users "whiners," and social backlash from people uncomfortable with the constant surveillance.

One WIRED reporter was accused of "wearing a wire" at a tech event and removed the device after facing hostility.

With approximately 3,000 units sold (1,000 shipped) and $7 million in venture funding, Schiffmann claims the median user sends 238 messages daily to their pendant.

Privacy concerns mount as the company's policy allows conversation data usage for research and personalization, sparking broader debates about AI companionship, emotional dependence, and surveillance culture.

Last week’s top-performing videos showed how quickly attention can shift between blockbuster entertainment, emerging tech, and real-world oddities.

Whether it’s a major studio move or a strange medical case, the stories that resonate most are the ones that surprise, inform, and spark conversation all at once.
